Beginners are integrated into the class; Emma demonstrates every posture, with adaptations where needed, so you build your personal body strength at your own pace.

What to expect in a Kundalini class

Expect the unexpected! Kundalini yoga is not so much about bendy bodies but about bringing ourselves back into the present time – not in pains of the past or fears of our future. Kundalini yoga allows you to crawl inside the landscape of your body, inhabit every room and space within you,  through movements, mantra, and breath.  A yogi is one who resides in the body with intuitive ease.

Emma’s lesson sets an empowering intention relevant to yoga philosophy/life. You can join anytime, each class stands alone:  intention + Posture + Breath. 

Personal Intention is everything. The intention you set in your mind at the start of class, sets the universal energetic forces into action with you. You are saying yes to so much more, in your life. You are saying yes to joy, creativity, and abundance, prosperity and balance through your kundalini yoga practice.

Emma’s classes are a masterclass in ‘yourself’ every time. Classes help you bear your reality, you learn breath and body awareness, you are becoming, planting a new rhythm in your life, using the yoga mat.

We focus on all the energy centers in the human body. Emma’s classes help us ‘re-member ourselves’ become whole, feel whole, vibrate your authenticity and release the need to be perfect or attach to outcomes.

Kundalini yoga allows your thinking mind to gradually drop into alignment with the experiences in your physical body and your intuitive heart space. We use various pranayama (directing your breath), mudras (hand gestures that channel energy flow), and in addition, the magic of chanting short mantras or allowing the mind simply to rest in mantra music whilst you move. If you love music and movement and need to adapt to modern life and all the challenges of the current age, Kundalini yoga is the ‘go-to’ practice that is empowering and life-changing.

Emma is the founder and owner of YogaSpace Yorkshire. She is a KYTA  and Yoga Alliance Professionals certified yoga teacher. She has RYT qualifications in Kundalini yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga and Mindfulness, Yoga for Cancer, Yoga for Children, The Architecture of Posture, Altered States(Pranayama Training), and  Sound Qualifications in Gong playing and Sound baths. She is the senior teacher at YogaSpace Yorkshire.

“I believe there is a connection between how we manage and move our bodies and how this helps manages our ‘minds’. My spiritual number is 5, the number of the teacher, and my life’s mission/purpose is to share the teachings of wellbeing practices like yoga, sound therapy, and the esoteric aspects of human life, with my students. I believe we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Our life’s work is to know and love ‘the self’ so that we can connect to that divine power residing within all of us. From this space,- we activate through yogas like Kundalini, all that connects us with the universal creative forces. These are the forces power life’s blessings.  I work with the subtle layers and powers within our human bodies; energy centers called the chakras. My passion is to help you awaken your personal power centers to stay physically strong, mentally resilient, and to remain, or grow, happy.”

Emma trained with KRI-certified yoga schools in London and Portugal (Karam Kriya)  and with Julie Montagu’s London-based Whole Self Yoga School for Vinyasa Mandala Flow. Emma is a fan of the therapeutic side of Kundalini yoga as kundalini yoga provides a student with tools to regulate/have agency over their states of anxiety, addictions, and loss of sense of the self, their navigation through the menopause, and come to peace with past lives, shadow selves, and ancestral karmic load. Her Yin with Mindfulness training becomes seamlessly blended at times, during her classes. The yang during posture effort, the yin experience between postures.

Ema has also trained with James Reeves at Triyoga, who teaches the acclaimed Yoga Nidra IRest method. She has trained with the Yoga for Cancer Specialist, Vicky Fox (Triyoga) to bring this therapeutic form of yoga to YogaSpace Yorkshire to support those in the area. She is a qualified children’s yoga teacher and trained with  StarChild Yoga, an Education for  Peace, certified by KYTA.

She learned her Gong craft from two gong master Gurus; Mehtab Benton from the USA who has taught all over the world. Emma continues to train with Sheila Whittaker who is the lead trainer at the College of Sound Healing. Emma has two gongs, Mercury and Chiron.

Emma holds residential retreats here at YogaSpace Yorkshire in collaboration with visiting guest teachers.

Emma’s vision is to bring yoga and wellbeing into the heart of the Yorkshire countryside and make it available both to locals and to residential retreat visitors and anyone visiting this part of North Yorkshire who seeks a mid-week yoga practice. She is currently training in a holistic yoga therapy which will be taught at YogaSpace Yorkshire in 2020.
