SUMMARY:Mostly Silent Retreat Weekend North Yorkshire 27-29th November 2026
DESCRIPTION:Rest Renewal Meditation – a mostly silent weekend space held by Emma\, a senior yoga teacher\, retreat guide\, sound and meditation facilitator.\nAn Invitation – Single Rooms from £450pp\nIn Lower Wensleydale\, as winter lays across the landscape her slower exhales laced with frosts\, stars and stillness we gather in this winter-womb with shared silence. Together we become a quiet collective\, breathing beneath the same roof\, held by a common intention to discover something truthful\, something useful and something beautiful for our ever-evolving lives. \nAs the longest nights draw near\, we are invited into winter’s ancient wisdom: a season not of endings\, but of gestation. Wrapped in darkness\, we enter our own private sacred hinterland where the outer world grows still and our private inner world has room to speak. In that spaciousness\, silence becomes both refuge and companion\, gently ‘be-loving and be-longing’ us back to ourselves. \nSilence space will begin after we have all eaten and enjoyed conversation together on the Friday arrival day. The whole space silence will break at 12 noon Sunday so that we can eat our lunch together and share any relevant experience. \nIf you do need to talk with anyone during the weekend this is not banned – Emma is always available and others may be available if they agree\, to enjoy conversation. The designated silent rooms will remain silent. \nOnly 10 Places Available\nThis is a women-only single-room accommodation weekend of shared silence\, deep rest held as a self-guided retreat in the peaceful countryside of North Yorkshire. Bring your private secret longing into this shared energy of sacred silence. \nWhat you seek is seeking you – Rumi. – And then\, seek No-Thing\nThere are moments in life when our wellbeing need is NOT another retreat following the usual shared group wellbeing rota of rituals be it circles\, cards\, massage and stories around fire bowls. This weekend is built around ‘no-thingness’ and the courage of remaining in some emptiness as your eyes feast on the beauty of how winter slays trees bare\, sends animal and plant life into hibernation and gives us coal black starry nights. We will mirror all that is winter too. \nAfter we have said our hellos and eaten a shared evening meal on our arrival Friday we enter into silence and observe it until it is gently lifted over lunch on Sunday. \nWhat are we seeking? The numinous.  Invite your soul to whisper\, or shout as you hear its song during this liminal space/time process.\nThis is not a retreat built around a timetable of activities or carefully choreographed rituals. There is no expectation that you should meditate for hours\, embrace practices that do not resonate with you or follow someone else’s path to wellbeing. Most retreats have followed well-known rituals and practices and a timetable but this weekend honours something much simpler through collective silence: renewal\, knowing\, trust\, self-love.  There is nowhere to be and nothing to achieve and although this is a self-guided retreat\, you are not alone. \nWomen’s heartbeats together\nThere is raw power held by a gathering of women who have also chosen to pause. The deepest wisdoms are within the body and get dissipated in service of our families\, work\, friends\, parents \nThis is Your Weekend \nApart from a suggested arrival time from 4pm on Friday so you can orientate before we enjoy a group mealtime there is no fixed weekend schedule apart from meal times so that our cook can serve you hot food (it is winter). There is a set departure time on Sunday. In between arrival and departure\, your time is your own\, you may even choose not to eat. \nUndiluted YOU YOU YOU. Guilt free. \nYou may spend the hours sleeping\, reading\, writing\, walking\, meditating\, contemplating\, watching the changing light or doing very little at all. Yoga will be offered on Saturday and Sunday morning. There may be a gentle gong bath on Saturday evening. The yoga is not themed\, or set within a framework of teachings\, it will be purely yoga as the class downloads to be taught. \nBoth are offered as invitations rather than expectations. \nAccommodation is only in single-occupancy rooms  Freshly prepared vegetarian meals are served throughout the weekend\, vegan options available (please let us know if you are a vegan).  Self-serve Teas\, herbal teas and coffee will always be available from rising until c.10pm in the dining room. \nNB. Dietary needs must be sent by email prior to paying for any deposit to ensure our cook can accommodate (eg coeliac) and to obtain the quote for any diet needs. We consider diet needs to be those medically diagnosed and following the advice of a NHS doctor. \nOther Things of Note. \nAdult hosts\, one non-resident cook. The house has 24-hour heating. \nGardens and grounds to explore – acres and acres. Hot tub\, cold plunge tub\, indoor swimming pool (heated to 29c) with endless current swim machine. If you swim alone\, you must sign a form declaring you swim well and understand/take full responsibility of the risks of swimming alone. Optional yoga\, optional soundbath\, weather-permitting a fire bowl may be lit one evening to fire-gaze. \nThis retreat is for women who feel called towards simplicity rather than stimulation\,  come as you are. \nWe would be honoured to welcome you. \nRates (all House rooms use any of the house’s 4 bathrooms.) \nRate includes all meals\, your accommodation\, professionally laundered linen\, towels\, bathrobe\, teas\,coffee\, any activitiy you choose to join (yoga\, sound\, fire\, led-walk) and hosting by two adults and one cook. \nDietary Preferences – these can be accommodated with cook’s permission and if complicated – incur a supplement.
