About

North Yorkshire in Spring.  The drabness of English winter now behind us, we are in the time of nature’s greatest green palette.  The month of May paints rural landscapes with viridian greens, lawn green, dales green. Green is the colour representing the human heart chakra. After many months of waiting, the darling buds of May emerge in abundance on branches and hedges. Birdsong is plenty,

A yoga and walking retreat is the marriage of two great contemplative practices. Walking enriches the soul, our cells oxygenate in the fresh air and our feet and legs take us forward in life. Yoga nourishes our body with both oxygenation and a slower deep nervous system reset.

There will be two off-site expeditions after the Saturday and Sunday morning yoga practice.n We take a Yorkshire dales walk on Saturday and make a visit to a local garden on Sunday. (location and agenda TBC Sunday.)

Both are nearby expeditions.

Weekend  Yoga Retreat Theme

This weekend intends that we consider what abundances from the previous 9 months can we build upon through working with the alchemical power of yogic practice and breathwork, restoring the nervous system with healing gong sound, and revitalising ourselves with both nature and beauty as we make the explorations into the rugged unspoilt landscape of the Yorkshire Dales.

Healing Meditation with Laura Hamblyn

Jinny is a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with a current 16hr training in outdoor emergency first aid. She has extensive experience walking the hills, fells and mountains of northern England, and has led walks in all weathers and seasons, day and night.

Laura is an energy healer, meditation leader and tarot reader who has worked with Patrick Brompton Hall in this capacity and as a retreat cook since 2018. Laura will also cater for us.

Emma Jinny and Laura make are a great team to be your weekend retreat guide as Jinny is also a fellow yogini – as Jinny says; ‘I have practised yoga since the age of 12, starting with Hatha, then vinyasa-flow, Bikram and Ashtanga, before finally discovering my favourite – kundalini yoga with Emma.’

Emma – your yoga teacher and retreat host, owner of Patrick Brompton Hall, is your experienced retreat weekend guide, host and class teacher.  Emma is also attuned to nature and sees it from an esoteric yoga perspective. Emma says; ‘I will select yogic practices that enhance our connection with Autumnal energy and personal reflection, creating an opportunity to work with green energy to fuel us forward into the oncoming winter months.’

Who is this walking and yoga retreat for?

Walking: On Saturday we will enjoy a low level walk in the Dales, around 4 miles, 2-2.5hrs, discovering woods, trees, trails and local history. The pace will be gentle and we will have plenty of time to enjoy the fresh air and views. There will be some uneven terrain, but you will be guided carefully. On Sunday the walk is all paths and constant terrain in a stunning landscape of trees, plants, a lake, and we may even have time to see the resident meerkats, rare owl species and wallabies. This walk may also be taken at a different location if any facility is unavailable.

Yoga: The yoga sessions will be regular ability, not advanced, by all means attend with no yoga experience as long as you are willing to learn. You do not need to know any kundalini yoga techniques to attend.

Sharing spaces with a family member or friend.

If you wish to join  this retreat in a shared room space – firstly, it is best you have a roomie as we can offer you a guaranteed room space  for both of you if the shared room is available.

Sharing spaces with an unknown roomie

Occasionally we get applications from guests who are ‘happy to share with another same gender roomie’ and if so, please apply and mention you are happy to roomie with someone you don’t (yet) know. We will message you if we have a match.

Therefore we would love to hear from anyone who is travelling solo but wishes to roomie. Then we can find you a room match.
